TIXEL® AFTERCARE
Your guide to safe healing following Tixel skin resurfacing.
Tixel® uses controlled thermo-mechanical energy delivered through a medical-grade titanium tip to create precise thermal treatment zones within the skin.
Following treatment, the skin undergoes a controlled healing response that supports skin renewal and progressive collagen remodelling.
Correct aftercare is important to support skin-barrier recovery, minimise unnecessary irritation and protect your treatment outcome.
Typical visible downtime: approximately 2–7 days, depending on treatment intensity and the area treated.
Individual recovery varies.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER TREATMENT
Your skin may feel warm and appear flushed, similar to a sunburn.
It is normal to experience:
• Redness
• Warmth or heat
• Mild swelling
• Tightness
• Tenderness or sensitivity
• A mild stinging sensation
• Dryness over the following days
• Tiny grid-like treatment marks
• Microscopic crusting
The treatment pattern can sometimes become more visible during the first few days before it begins to disappear.
This can be a normal part of recovery.
FIRST 24 HOURS
Treat the skin very gently.
Avoid touching, rubbing or scratching the treated area unnecessarily.
Always wash your hands before touching the skin or applying recommended post-treatment products.
Use only the skincare recommended by your practitioner during the initial recovery period.
CAN I WASH MY FACE?
Follow the cleansing timeframe provided by your practitioner.
Once cleansing can resume:
• Use cool to lukewarm water
• Use a gentle cleanser
• Cleanse using clean fingertips
• Pat dry gently with a clean towel
Do not use:
• Cleansing brushes
• Face scrubs
• Exfoliating cloths
• Hot water
• Exfoliating cleansers
DAYS 1–3
Redness and warmth generally begin to settle.
During this stage, you may notice:
• Increased dryness
• Tightness
• Rough texture
• Tiny dark dots
• A grid-like pattern
• Microscopic crusting
The treatment pattern may temporarily look darker or more obvious than it did immediately after treatment.
Do not attempt to remove it.
DAYS 3–7
The microscopic crusts should progressively begin to shed as the skin renews.
DO NOT PICK THEM.
Do not:
• Scratch
• Peel
• Scrub
• Exfoliate
• Rub with a towel
• Use cleansing brushes
Allow all crusting to release naturally.
Premature removal may increase the risk of irritation, infection, pigmentation changes or scarring.
EYE AREA
Tixel can be used around the delicate periorbital area, where swelling may be more noticeable.
If your eye area was treated, you may experience:
• Puffiness
• Redness
• Tightness
• Temporary tenderness
• Visible grid-like treatment points
Swelling can occasionally appear more noticeable the morning after treatment.
Do not rub the eye area or attempt to remove microscopic crusting.
Follow any additional eye-area instructions provided by your practitioner.
MAKEUP
Avoid makeup for at least the initial 24 hours, and longer if the skin remains significantly red, sensitive, crusted or compromised.
Do not apply makeup over skin that is open, weeping or significantly irritated.
Once makeup is resumed:
• Use clean brushes and applicators
• Apply gently
• Avoid aggressive rubbing during removal
EXERCISE
Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sweating for approximately 24–48 hours, or longer if significant heat or redness remains.
Avoid:
• Gym workouts
• Running
• Hot yoga
• Intense cardio
• Activities causing significant facial sweating
HEAT & WATER EXPOSURE
For approximately 48 hours, and while significant redness or sensitivity remains, avoid:
• Saunas
• Steam rooms
• Spa baths
• Very hot showers
• Swimming pools
• Ocean swimming
• Excessive heat exposure
SUN EXPOSURE
Strict sun protection is important following Tixel.
Avoid unnecessary direct sun exposure while the skin is recovering.
Use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ once appropriate for your recovering skin.
Also:
• Wear a hat outdoors
• Seek shade
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight
• Do not intentionally tan
This is particularly important because UV exposure during an inflammatory healing response can increase the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
ACTIVE SKINCARE
Temporarily discontinue potentially irritating active ingredients including:
• Retinol and prescription retinoids
• AHAs
• BHAs / salicylic acid
• Glycolic acid
• Lactic acid
• Exfoliating toner pads
• Benzoyl peroxide
• Physical scrubs
• Strong or acidic vitamin C formulations
• Other potentially irritating corrective skincare
As a general guide, active skincare should be avoided for approximately 5–7 days, or until redness, sensitivity and crusting have completely resolved.
More intensive treatments may require a longer period.
Reintroduce active products gradually.
If your practitioner has given you a different timeframe, follow those instructions.
WHAT SHOULD I USE?
During recovery, keep your routine simple.
Your practitioner may recommend:
Gentle cleanser
To cleanse without unnecessarily disrupting the recovering barrier.
Hydrating / barrier-supportive moisturiser
To support comfort and skin-barrier recovery.
Broad-spectrum SPF 50+
To protect recovering skin once appropriate.
Do not introduce unnecessary new skincare while the skin is healing.
WHAT NOT TO DO
During recovery:
• Do not pick or scratch
• Do not remove microscopic crusting
• Do not exfoliate
• Do not use facial scrubs
• Do not use cleansing brushes
• Do not dermaplane
• Do not wax the treated area
• Do not use depilatory creams
• Do not intentionally tan
• Do not use at-home microneedling devices
• Do not undergo another intensive skin procedure before recovery is complete
OTHER FACIAL & SKIN TREATMENTS
Avoid additional advanced treatments until the skin has adequately recovered.
This includes:
• Microneedling
• RF microneedling
• Fractional Laser
• Chemical peels
• Additional Tixel treatments
• Other laser treatments
• Dermaplaning
• Waxing
The appropriate interval depends on the intensity of your Tixel treatment and the procedure being considered next.
Contact VÉU if you're unsure when your next treatment should be performed.
WHEN WILL MY SKIN LOOK NORMAL AGAIN?
A general recovery pattern may look like:
Day 1: Redness, warmth and mild swelling
Days 2–3: Dryness, roughness and grid-like treatment points may become more noticeable
Days 3–5: Microscopic crusts begin naturally shedding
Days 5–7: Skin progressively becomes smoother and more settled
Following more intensive treatments, mild pinkness, dryness or microscopic crusting may persist longer.
Your skin does not need to peel heavily for the treatment to have worked.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Once the initial recovery period has settled, the skin may begin to appear smoother, fresher and more refined.
However, the biological response continues beyond the visible healing period.
Collagen remodelling develops progressively over the following weeks and months.
Depending on your concern, a course of treatments may be recommended.
WHAT IS NORMAL — AND WHAT ISN'T?

For severe symptoms or a medical emergency, seek urgent medical attention.
YOUR SKIN IS HEALING
The tiny dots or grid-like pattern you may see following Tixel are part of the controlled treatment response.
Do not pick them. Do not scrub them away. Allow them to shed naturally.
During recovery:
Cleanse gently. Hydrate. Protect from UV. Avoid excessive heat. Allow the skin to heal.
If you're unsure whether your recovery is normal, contact VÉU.
