SkinPen Precision Microneedling

Clinical collagen induction. Precision skin remodelling.

SkinPen Precision is a professional percutaneous collagen induction therapy designed to improve acne scarring, textural irregularities and visible signs of skin ageing through controlled mechanical stimulation of the skin.

The device uses sterile, ultra-fine needles to create thousands of controlled microchannels within the epidermis and dermis. This controlled micro-injury initiates the body's natural wound-healing cascade, stimulating cellular signalling involved in collagen and elastin production and extracellular matrix remodelling.

Unlike radiofrequency microneedling or laser resurfacing, SkinPen creates this regenerative response without delivering thermal energy into the tissue.

Over time, this process can improve dermal structure and produce smoother, firmer and more refined-looking skin.

CLINICAL INDICATIONS

SkinPen Precision may be recommended for:

• Atrophic acne scarring
• Uneven or irregular skin texture
• Enlarged or visible pores
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Early signs of skin ageing
• Loss of skin firmness
• Dull or compromised skin texture
• General collagen induction and skin rejuvenation

SkinPen can be performed on the face, neck and other appropriate areas of the body following clinical assessment.

HOW DOES SKINPEN WORK?

SkinPen uses a sterile, single-use needle cartridge that moves vertically through the skin at a controlled and adjustable depth.

During treatment, precise microchannels are created within the targeted tissue. These micro-injuries trigger a physiological wound-healing response involving inflammation, proliferation and subsequent tissue remodelling.

Fibroblast activity and new collagen formation contribute to gradual changes in the architecture and quality of the treated skin.

Needle depth and treatment intensity can be adjusted according to the anatomical area, skin thickness, indication and clinical endpoint.

This allows treatment to range from general collagen induction through to more targeted scar-remodelling protocols.

ACNE SCAR REMODELLING

SkinPen can be particularly beneficial for appropriate forms of atrophic acne scarring, where controlled dermal injury is used to encourage collagen remodelling within areas of depressed or irregular scar tissue.

Acne scarring is complex and may involve multiple scar types and depths. For this reason, microneedling may be used as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a broader scar-management plan involving other modalities where clinically appropriate.

A consultation is recommended to determine whether SkinPen is suitable for your individual scar pattern.

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?

A topical anaesthetic may be applied prior to treatment to improve comfort.

During treatment, most clients experience vibration, pressure and varying degrees of sensitivity depending on the area being treated and the depth required.

Pinpoint bleeding may occur during more intensive treatments and is an expected clinical endpoint in some treatment protocols.

DOWNTIME & RECOVERY

Most clients should allow approximately 2–5 days of visible recovery, although this varies according to treatment depth, intensity and individual skin response.

First 24 hours:
Redness, warmth, mild swelling and a sensation similar to sunburn are common.

Days 2–3:
Redness generally begins to reduce. The skin may feel tight, dry, sensitive or slightly rough as the barrier recovers.

Days 3–5:
Mild dryness, flaking or residual sensitivity may continue. Most clients find the skin increasingly returns to its usual appearance during this period.

Following deeper or more intensive scar treatments, visible recovery may occasionally persist beyond five days.

Strict post-treatment care is important. Clients will receive appropriate aftercare instructions regarding cleansing, hydration, sun protection and when active skincare ingredients can safely be reintroduced.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

Microneedling results are progressive rather than immediate.

Early improvements in skin texture and appearance may become noticeable over several weeks, while collagen formation and tissue remodelling continue over the following months.

For general skin rejuvenation, treatment frequency will depend on individual skin requirements.

For acne scarring and more significant textural concerns, a series of treatments is commonly required. The number and interval between treatments will be determined following assessment and according to the clinical response.

SKINPEN VS RF MICRONEEDLING

SkinPen and RF microneedling both create controlled micro-injury, but they are not the same treatment.

SkinPen Precision uses mechanical microneedling to initiate collagen induction without thermal energy.

RF microneedling combines needle penetration with radiofrequency energy delivered into the tissue, creating an additional controlled thermal response.

The most appropriate modality depends on factors including the presenting concern, scar type, skin characteristics, treatment history and desired level of intervention.

SKINPEN PRECISION AT VÉU

At VÉU, SkinPen is performed using an individualised, clinically considered approach rather than one standard depth or protocol for every client.

Skin thickness, scar morphology, treatment area, skin history and desired outcome are assessed before treatment parameters are selected.

Where appropriate, SkinPen may also form part of a multimodal treatment plan for more complex concerns such as acne scarring and textural irregularities.

Our focus is not simply on creating microchannels — it is on creating a controlled tissue response at an appropriate depth to support safe and progressive skin remodelling.
