PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Therapy
Autologous regenerative therapy. Repair. Restore. Rejuvenate.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a regenerative treatment derived from your own blood, designed to support tissue repair, collagen production and progressive improvement in skin quality.
A small amount of blood is collected and processed using centrifugation to separate and concentrate the platelet-containing plasma from other blood components.
Platelets contain biologically active proteins and growth factors involved in the body's natural healing, cellular signalling and tissue-repair processes.
The prepared PRP is then delivered into targeted areas of the skin using an appropriate clinical technique, allowing your own platelet concentrate to be used as part of a personalised skin-rejuvenation treatment.
WHAT CAN PRP TREAT?
PRP may be recommended for:
• Fine lines and early signs of ageing
• Crepey or thinning skin
• Loss of skin quality and elasticity
• Dull or tired-looking skin
• Under-eye skin quality
• Uneven skin texture
• General facial rejuvenation
• Neck and décolletage rejuvenation
• Selected areas requiring regenerative support
PRP may also be incorporated into treatment plans alongside other skin-remodelling procedures where clinically appropriate.
HOW DOES PRP WORK?
PRP is an autologous treatment, meaning the biological material used during treatment is obtained from your own body.
Following blood collection, the sample is placed into a centrifuge and processed to produce a plasma fraction containing concentrated platelets.
When activated within treated tissue, platelets release signalling molecules and growth factors involved in processes such as cellular repair, angiogenesis and extracellular matrix remodelling.
These biological processes can support fibroblast activity and collagen production, contributing to progressive improvement in skin quality.
Because PRP works through regenerative signalling rather than adding artificial volume, results develop gradually and are intended to look natural.
THE PRP PROCESS
1. BLOOD COLLECTION
A small amount of blood is collected in the same manner as a standard blood test.
2. CENTRIFUGATION
The blood is processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-containing plasma from other blood components.
3. PRP PREPARATION
The platelet-rich component is prepared for treatment using the appropriate clinical protocol.
4. TREATMENT
PRP is delivered into the targeted areas according to the treatment indication and desired outcome.
The technique used may vary depending on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan.
UNDER-EYE PRP
The delicate eye area can progressively develop fine lines, crepiness and reduced skin quality as collagen and dermal support decline.
PRP may be used in appropriately selected clients to support regenerative processes within the periorbital skin.
Unlike dermal filler, PRP is not primarily a volumising treatment and will not replace significant structural volume loss or correct every cause of under-eye darkness.
A clinical assessment is important to determine whether the concern relates primarily to skin quality, pigmentation, vascular visibility, volume loss or a combination of factors.
PRP + MICRONEEDLING
Where appropriate, PRP may also be incorporated into a microneedling treatment plan.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-injury to stimulate collagen induction, while PRP provides autologous platelet-derived signalling factors involved in tissue repair.
Whether PRP is injected, incorporated alongside another treatment or used independently will depend on the clinical indication and treatment plan.
WHAT DOES PRP FEEL LIKE?
Blood collection generally feels similar to having a routine blood test.
During treatment, clients may experience brief pinching, pressure or stinging depending on the delivery technique and anatomical area.
A topical anaesthetic may be used where appropriate to improve comfort.
DOWNTIME & RECOVERY
Downtime varies depending on how PRP is delivered and the area treated.
Most clients should allow approximately 2–5 days for visible treatment-related changes to settle.
First 24–48 hours:
Redness, tenderness and mild swelling may occur. Small raised areas can temporarily be visible at injection sites.
Days 2–3:
Swelling and redness generally begin to reduce. Mild tenderness may remain.
Days 3–5:
Most visible treatment effects have generally settled.
Because PRP involves injections, bruising is possible and can occasionally remain visible for approximately 7–10 days or longer, particularly around the delicate eye area.
When PRP is combined with microneedling or another procedure, downtime will also reflect the recovery period associated with that treatment.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
PRP is a progressive regenerative treatment, not an instant volumising procedure.
Some clients begin noticing improvements in skin quality over the following several weeks.
Collagen production and tissue remodelling occur gradually, meaning changes may continue to develop over the following months.
Depending on the treatment indication, a course of PRP treatments may be recommended followed by periodic maintenance.
Results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed.
PRP VS SKIN BOOSTERS
PRP and injectable skin boosters can both be used to improve skin quality, but they are fundamentally different treatments.
PRP is produced from your own blood and uses platelet-derived biological signalling factors to support regenerative processes.
Skin boosters introduce specifically formulated injectable substances into the skin to target hydration, skin quality or other treatment objectives depending on the product used.
The most appropriate treatment depends on your skin, anatomy and desired outcome.
PRP AT VÉU
At VÉU, PRP is performed following an individualised clinical assessment.
Your skin quality, anatomy, treatment history and primary concern are considered before determining whether PRP is appropriate and how it should be incorporated into your treatment plan.
Where clinically appropriate, PRP may be used independently or alongside other regenerative and collagen-remodelling treatments.
Our objective is not to create artificial volume or change your natural facial features. It is to utilise your body's own platelet concentrate to support progressive tissue repair, collagen remodelling and improved skin quality.
Your own biology. Regenerative signalling. Progressive skin renewal.
