FRACTIONAL LASER RESURFACING AFTERCARE

Your guide to safe healing following Fractional Laser Resurfacing.

Fractional Laser creates controlled microscopic treatment zones within the skin to stimulate epidermal renewal and collagen remodelling.

Typical visible downtime: approximately 5–10 days.

Redness, swelling, warmth, bronzing, dryness, microscopic crusting and peeling can all occur during normal recovery.

Your aftercare will depend on whether you purchased the VÉU Post-Laser Recovery Kit or are following the alternative home aftercare protocol.

OPTION 1 — VÉU POST-LASER RECOVERY KIT

Recommended aftercare protocol

If you received the VÉU Post-Laser Recovery Kit, use the products provided as directed by your practitioner.

Your kit contains your Mesoestetic gentle cleanser, post-procedure recovery balm and SPF 50+, selected to simplify your routine while the skin barrier recovers.

CLEANSER

Use your provided gentle cleanser once you have reached the cleansing timeframe advised by your practitioner.

Wash your hands first.

Use cool to lukewarm water and gently cleanse using your fingertips.

Do not use:

• Cleansing brushes
• Face cloths
• Scrubs
• Exfoliating sponges
• Hot water

Pat the skin dry gently using a clean towel.

RECOVERY BALM

Apply your provided Mesoestetic recovery balm as instructed.

The purpose of your recovery balm is to support comfort and the skin barrier during the post-laser healing period.

Apply gently using clean hands.

Do not aggressively rub or massage the product into the skin.

Reapply according to your practitioner's instructions and whenever recommended during the recovery period.

SPF 50+

Once your practitioner has advised that sunscreen can be applied, use your provided Mesoestetic SPF 50+ daily.

Apply gently and avoid excessive rubbing.

Reapply according to the product directions and your level of exposure.

Sunscreen does not mean you should intentionally expose freshly treated skin to the sun.

During recovery:

• Stay out of direct sunlight where possible
• Wear a wide-brimmed hat outdoors
• Seek shade
• Avoid intentional tanning

Strict photoprotection is essential following fractional resurfacing.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

While using your recovery kit, you generally do not need to add your normal serums, toners, exfoliants or active skincare.

For the initial recovery period, your routine should be intentionally simple:

Cleanse → Recovery Balm → SPF 50+

At night:

Cleanse → Recovery Balm

Follow any additional instructions given by your practitioner.

OPTION 2 — IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE VÉU RECOVERY KIT

Simple home aftercare

If you did not purchase or receive the VÉU Post-Laser Recovery Kit, do not immediately return to your normal skincare routine.

Your skin has undergone a controlled resurfacing procedure and needs a very simple, non-irritating routine while the barrier recovers.

CLEANSER

Use a very gentle, fragrance-free cleanser that does not contain exfoliating acids, retinoids, scrubbing particles or other strong active ingredients.

If you already own a simple cleanser designed for sensitive or compromised skin, this may be appropriate.

Avoid:

• Foaming or stripping cleansers if they sting or dry the skin
• Scrubs
• Exfoliating cleansers
• Salicylic-acid cleansers
• Glycolic-acid cleansers
• Benzoyl-peroxide washes
• Cleansing brushes

If you are uncertain whether your cleanser is appropriate, contact VÉU before using it.

MOISTURISER / BARRIER SUPPORT

Use a simple, fragrance-free moisturiser or barrier-repair cream.

Look for a product designed for sensitive skin or barrier support rather than an active anti-ageing or acne treatment.

Suitable types of ingredients may include:

• Ceramides
• Glycerin
• Panthenol
• Hyaluronic acid in a simple, non-irritating formulation
• Other basic barrier-supporting moisturising ingredients

Avoid products containing exfoliating acids, retinoids, strong vitamin C, fragrances or other potentially irritating actives.

If a product burns or significantly stings, stop using it and contact VÉU.

SPF 50+

Once sunscreen is appropriate for your stage of recovery, use a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ suitable for sensitive skin.

If your usual sunscreen causes significant stinging or irritation, discontinue it and contact VÉU for an alternative recommendation.

Physical protection is equally important:

• Avoid direct sun exposure
• Wear a hat
• Seek shade
• Do not intentionally tan

YOUR HOME ROUTINE SHOULD BE:

MORNING

Gentle cleanse
→ Simple barrier-supporting moisturiser
→ Broad-spectrum SPF 50+

EVENING

Gentle cleanse
→ Simple barrier-supporting moisturiser

That's it.

Do not add unnecessary products while your skin is healing.

DO NOT USE DURING THE INITIAL HEALING PERIOD

Whether you are using the VÉU Recovery Kit or your own appropriate products, temporarily discontinue:

• Retinol
• Tretinoin or other prescription retinoids
• Glycolic acid
• Lactic acid
• Salicylic acid
• AHAs / BHAs
• Exfoliating toner pads
• Benzoyl peroxide
• Strong or acidic vitamin C products
• Physical scrubs
• Enzyme exfoliants
• At-home peels
• Strong acne treatments
• Fragranced or irritating skincare

Do not restart these products simply because peeling has stopped.

Following fractional resurfacing, active skincare should generally only be reintroduced once the skin has adequately healed and redness, sensitivity, crusting and active peeling have resolved.

For many clients this will be at least 7–10 days, although stronger treatments may require longer.

When in doubt, contact VÉU before restarting your active products.

YOUR RECOVERY TIMELINE

DAYS 1–2

Redness, warmth, swelling and sensitivity are expected.

Keep the skin clean, hydrated and protected.

DAYS 2–4

The skin may appear darker, bronzed, dry or rough.

Tiny microscopic treatment points may become more noticeable.

This can be part of normal healing.

DAYS 3–7

Flaking, peeling and microscopic crusting may occur.

Do not pick or exfoliate.

Allow treated tissue to shed naturally.

DAYS 7–10

The skin generally becomes progressively smoother and more settled.

Mild pinkness or sensitivity may remain.

Continue your gentle routine until the skin barrier feels fully recovered.

IMPORTANT RECOVERY RULES

During the initial healing period:

• No picking or peeling
• No exfoliating
• No facial scrubs
• No cleansing brushes
• No retinol or acids
• No strenuous exercise for approximately 48–72 hours
• No saunas or steam rooms
• No swimming while the skin is healing
• No waxing or depilatory creams
• No additional advanced skin treatments
• No intentional sun exposure

Do not apply ice directly to treated skin.

MAKEUP

Do not apply makeup while the skin remains open, weeping, significantly crusted or actively peeling.

Once the surface has adequately healed, makeup can gradually be resumed.

Use clean brushes, sponges and applicators.

If you are unsure whether your skin is ready, contact VÉU first.

WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT VÉU?

REMEMBER

Your skin does not need more products while it is recovering — it needs fewer, appropriate products.

If you have the VÉU Post-Laser Recovery Kit, follow the provided protocol.

If you do not have the kit, keep your home routine extremely simple:

Gentle cleanser. Barrier-supporting moisturiser. SPF 50+.

Do not experiment with new active skincare during recovery.
